We’ve put together one of the best single-serve pods by using plant-based plastics and organic, fairtrade coffees. We’re not perfect, but we’re getting there!
Made out of paper with a thin compostable plastic resin, our lids are Keurig® 2.0 compatible and help to identify the coffee you’re brewing.
It looks like plastic, but, it’s actually like the compostable plastic fork and knife you might have used before. Our plant-based plastics are primarily made of corn (a very useful plant!) and processed to create a ring. These rings are heat-sealed to the lid and mesh.
The last piece of the puzzle. In 2018, we finalized testing and launched our compostable mesh, completing our 100% compostable pod. It’s a plant-based (corn) material stretched to create a perfect mesh filter that gives our coffee a full and rich body, in every cup.
Foil-like Compostable Bag
We were the first in Canada to use a foil-like compostable bag. It looks like foil, feels like foil, but it’s not! The bag is made out of a plant-based material that – you guessed it – can break down in commercial compost. Yes, it costs us more to use the biodegradable packaging – but we believe it’s worth it for good of the planet!
